Hi, I’m Jacob.
I'm a male therapist in Berkeley with over 15 years of experience.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice in Berkeley, and I help adults and couples working through anxiety, substance use and addiction, anger, depression, and the patterns that keep people stuck, in person and online across California.
Before opening my practice, I spent over a decade in community mental health, including as Clinical Director and harm-reduction residential program manager at Swords to Plowshares, a veterans' nonprofit, and doing mental health and substance use work at San Francisco General Hospital and in Los Angeles County.
That background means very little surprises me, and there's nothing you could say or do that would make me judge you. I draw on evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Seeking Safety, but mostly I work collaboratively and without judgment to help you figure out what's getting in the way, and what a path forward looks like.

If it feels like a good fit, we'll set up a first session, in person in Berkeley or online anywhere in California. Early on especially, I mostly listen, but if you come in motivated and already know what you want, I'm happy to start helping you make changes right away.
